A friend of mine and I lead a high school Christian small group together. In this small group, we have biblical conversations and learn through each other and the bible. Some days we talk about certain topics and have a focus, others we read thoroughly through a certain passage in the bible, and others we just have fellowship with each other! For some context, we call this group housegroup. We have felt called to do something greater with the people in housegroup, and we felt that making brownies, creating notes, and then giving them to strangers would be a good start. We invited everyone to come over to my house and bake the brownies, as well as create notes. There were many more people than expected, so we had to start some karaoke of course! It was such a great night in fellowship with this group of people laughing, baking, and coloring together!
About a week later, we gave away the brownies at a local coffee shop called Anchor. On these notes, there were encouraging notes, bible verses, and fun colorful pictures! We had a small table set up with the brownies laid out, along with a small bucket for prayer requests. When we were passing the brownies out to the strangers, they were all very thankful for them. Many also put in a prayer request which was amazing to see as well!
As I look back on this little project we did with housegroup, I think of what other things we could do as a Christian fellowship. We are such a large group of high schoolers ready to make a difference in this broken world. We want to shine Jesus' love onto everyone, no matter their past or the mistakes they have made. Just by handing these brownies out, I know these brownies could've turned someone's whole day around! When one lady grabbed a brownie, she looked at the note and said, "This is exactly what I needed to hear today" with a smile on her face. We know that the brownies won't bring people to Jesus, but we do know that those notes are a glimpse into the love Jesus has for us! We didn't know any of these people who got the brownies and notes, but we do know that God loves each and every one of them!
