I'm So Excited to be Hungry. (9/10/22)

Training camp is totally different than my everyday life. For context, we travel back to Yakima, Washington last year. Julia was working at Mod Pizza and spending most of her days home alone as her family went to school and she had online school. Home Alone Julia did not prioritize eating. Eating was an afterthought and could be done after work or school or anything else she could think of. She knew she had to do it, but never put in an effort. The thing is if you stop eating as frequently, your stomach stops expecting food, thus you’re not hungry any more. So you end up eating less and less until you starve.

In the same way, before training camp Julia would hardly ever read her Bible. She knew she had to do it, but never put in an effort. Everyday at training camp, time was set aside to be in the word and focus on Jesus.

Your relationship with God is the same thing. When you don’t spend time in the word, you won’t be hungry for more of it. You can live with that for a time but without it you will starve. On the other hand, when you start eating regularly again, you begin to be hungry. Your body is expecting food now and will be upset if it doesn’t get it.

The food portions are small here, so we are all hungry. However, being here, actually eating and feeding my faith, I am so happy to be hungry. Being hungry only means that you’re taking care of yourself, and I could not be more thankful.

God is so good! <3 jules
