It’s been such a blessing to live in South Africa the last two month! The Lord knew I needed this time of rest and recovery. I also did not realize how much I missed talking to people who speak the same language as myself.
While we were in South Africa my team worked with a ministry called Timion. Timion creates equipment for kids with cerebral palsy, provides food for local orphanages, and works hands on with children who have disabilities. My team specifically worked in the garden, harvesting and planting crops. However, we were blessed to get to do a little bit of everything. The true joy of getting to work with this ministry was seeing the heart behind it and what it looks like for a business to make God the first priority. Every morning Timion starts work with a time of worship, prayer, and devotions. No matter what is happening in their lives, the community, or their business they always go to the Lord first and thank him for all the ways He has provided. They are willing to go wherever the Lord leads even when it may mean making hard and sometimes consequential business decisions. Day after day we got to see the reward of their faithfulness and trust in the Lord.
God also brought our team into a place of remembrance. He reminded us of what His original plan for creation was and how everything works according to His purpose. He also reminded us that He created us to come along side Him and His ministry. God doesn’t need us to do anything but instead chooses to invite us into His plan for creation. Nothing is an accident and He has an amazing plan for all of our lives.
All in all Africa was an amazing season for me, filled with growth and rest. And what better place to live than the surf capital of Africa, which we did take full advantage of! Thank you for you constant prayers and encouragement!
A little travel update: in three days we will be flying to Quito, Ecuador. I get the privilege to work with a ministry called Camp Hope. This ministry works with kids with disabilities. I can’t wait to dive straight in. I will also be living and working with a completely different group of girls than I have the last seven months and I am excited to see how to Lord will cultivate new relationships!
