It’s all the little acts of kindness and sweet simple moments that I’ve started to recognize.
When joy fills my heart and I can’t stop smiling in worship.
When He speaks to me through the stars and the mountains.
When people I’ve only known for weeks choose to bundle me up in their arms and love me.
When a Peruvian woman visits and sees me shivering and sick, so she wraps her scarf around and hugs me.
When they pray healing over me and He heals.
When every morning I wake up and am surrounded by smiling eyes and enthusiastic shouts of “Buennaaaa!”
When the boys rush to kill spiders on our tents for us.
When I sit in a garden reading and am reminded to look up and re-acknowledge all the beauty surrounding me.
When vulnerability feels difficult and someone shares and trusts me with their story.
When vulnerability feels difficult and I share and trust others with my story.
When my favorite dog sits outside my tent waiting for me to get up in the morning.
When a sweet smell fills the air and we soak it up because we’re all so used to smelling bad.
When I finally do a project right and get a smile and hear “esta bien esta bien!”
When a friend hops into the shower next to me so we can have conversations to distract ourselves from the ice cold water.
When I can comfortably sit in sweet silence with those around me.
When someone who has a great fear of bugs removes a tick on my leg for me.
When we take a trip into the city and enjoy the heck out of having furniture to sit on.
When worship is passionately sung in various languages and unique voices and we feel unified.
As I intentionally seek God through His word, the once dimmed light keeps getting brighter. He continues to highlight all of these little acts of kindness.
