We’re Going Into The Rice Fields!

The night that I’m putting this post out is the night before I, as well as the rest of my team and the other team of guys leave our house in the city and drive out to one of the villages we have been working in some and help a family harvest rice. We will be staying in our tents and will be living with a family that recently made the decision to follow Jesus. We’ll be able to stay with them and pour into them while we are with them for several days. I have heard that two of the women that work with the ministry we’re with will be with us and will be catching our food while we’re there. I am really hoping that I’ll be able to help catch our food but I’m going to guess that I will be in the rice fields during that time. The diet while we are there will supposedly consist of fish, crabs, snails, and of course, rice.

I also just want to give my amazing followers an idea of what I have been doing so far as far as ministry goes here. So my first week here I worked with my team to just travel around the city and evangelize. What that looks like here really looks like us building real relationships with people. In fact, we had a tuk tuk driver take us into his village and we ate with his family and gave gifts to the kids in his village, and I just saw him the other day where he asked my team to attend his daughter’s wedding. Sadly it won’t be until after we leave Cambodia but it is those kinds of relationships that we’re striving for here. My second week was spent in villages where we taught English and played games with kids. We also did house visits and one of the people we are with would take people’s blood pressure and give them medicine as needed. This current week I am in has been less eventful, as we’ve had a couple days off due to the water festival going on right now, which celebrates the end of the rainy season.
