It's crazy that it has already been a little over two weeks since I arrived in New York. It has been a wonderful time so far seeing new places, meeting new people, and trying new things. Most importantly, God has been teaching me and bringing me closer to Him.
We spent the first week getting to know people at the church and visiting some local places. It was a fun time of fellowship, and a good preparation for ministry. It really is true that pizza and bagels are better here!
This week, we hosted an Arts Camp at the church, and it was incredible. We had about 30 kids show up, and we taught them Art, Music, and Theater each day. We shared the stories of creation, Gideon, and the resurrection of Jesus. Some of the kids had never heard the gospel before this week, and we got to share it with them multiple times! I helped teach theater, and it was a lot of fun acting out these stories with the kids.
One of the things I have learned over these past couple weeks is the depth of Colossians 3:17, "Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." Whether I am at the church most of the day or going to serve the community, both can be done for God's glory. In the moments it might feel like I haven't "done" a lot, I can remember that it is more than enough to spend a day in simple worship of God - trusting and obeying Him.
