I told Greg a few weeks ago, “I know the worst part about having twins”. He looked at me surprised and with tears in my eyes I said, “they are going to leave home at the same time.” When God called us to Swaziland nearly four years ago, God called our family, not just Greg and I. The boys started high school in Swaziland and now they have a few more months left in high school. It is crazy how fast time flies. I have loved to watch them grow and mature as God has used them in Swaziland.
So, you may ask, “What are your next steps?”.
This is what we know…or at least we think we know...
We will fly into Birmingham on July 1st. It is time for our second furlough, which is typically a time to visit our “home country” and raise support to return to Swaziland. Our goal is to reconnect with friends and family, but we will also use this time to get the kids settled and ready for their next steps.
Landon has been accepted to the World Race Gap Year. He will launch in September and will visit Thailand, Malaysia, Costa Rica and Ecuador to spread the Gospel over the nine months that follow. He will attend a mandatory training camp in Gainesville, GA at the beginning of July.
Lane has applied to four colleges and has been accepted to each one of them. He has applied for a few scholarships and he is waiting to hear back from those applications before making a final decision on which college he will attend in the fall.
As of now, Greg and I will return to Swaziland at the end of September….without the boys. We do not feel that our time in Swaziland is finished. There is still an overwhelming need and God is still using us to invest in the lives of the local people. Greg has been given the opportunity to invest and train leaders in the ministry with the hopes that they will continue to step up and become Godly leaders to one day completely lead this ministry. Michelle continues to work in the finance department and is also training staff to handle ministry finances. Leadership development is challenging and rewarding all at the same time. Below is a picture of some of the young leaders we have had the privilege to work with this past year!
Acts 18:26b ”…he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.”
This verse says that He is not far from us. No matter where we live, He is with us. He determines the exact places where we live. No matter if we are in Swaziland, on the World Race, or in college, we know we live in Him and when we seek him, we will find Him.
Be encouraged today, if big changes are coming, He is always there to take the next steps with you.
Please pray for our family that God continues to provide mentally, spiritually and financially for each of us as we take the next steps. Thank you for those who pray and support us. We could not do this without you. We look forward to enjoying dinner together at Sweets for Swazi and seeing many of you this summer!!!
