A Visit To and a Visit From Eswatini 8/26/2022

Hi Friends! The summer has been quite busy with a trip to Eswatini and a visitor from Eswatini. Michelle and I spent almost three weeks in Eswatini in June. We attended a lot of evaluation meetings and trainings about the child sponsorship program. Since Swazi is a warm culture, this face to face communication with our staff provided great feedback on how we can improve going forward. It was a great ...

Ministry Impact in Eswatini 4/21/2022

Since the first of the year, the ministry in Eswatini has ramped up. Most gatherings have started back and the last update from the prime minister shared restrictions were being relaxed even more by stating “the wearing of face masks in open space is no longer mandatory in groups of not more than five people.” As the ministry continues to reach out to children and their caregivers, we have several programs to help...

Merry Christmas! 12/17/2021

Last week, we were able to spend a few days with Linda, Greg’s mom, in Blue Ridge, GA. As I sat in our cabin in the woods watching the current of the river outside my window, I was reminded of the constant changes of life. Being that we have spent several holiday seasons in Eswatini away from family, our time together now seems a bit more sweeter. As we approach the end of the year, it seems natural to reflect...

Forever Blended 9/20/2021

Hi Friends, I wanted to give a brief update on the past few months.  Greg and I were able to attend a missionary debrief in Colorado Springs at the end of August. It was eye opening and very needed. Living in another culture and experiencing so many heart-breaking stories has had an impact on us more than we realized. Reverse culture shock has also been a reality as we try to plug back into the American culture...

Visit to Eswatini 6/9/2021

I think it is fitting that Greg was able to celebrate June 1st in Eswatini.  This was the day, seven years ago, that our family moved to Eswatini.  This is his first visit since we returned last April.  Part of his new position will be to travel back and forth.  Some trips, I should be able to join him, but currently, flights are around $2,000 so he flew solo this time.  We are hopeful we can both go together next ye...

Full Circle 3/14/2021

Child sponsorship was our first introduction to Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). We chose a 10 year old little girl which at the time, was the same age as our twin boys.  We loved that our family was able to write her letters and she sent back artwork that we displayed on our refrigerator. A few years later, a mission trip at our church was offered and we were able to go meet her.  Below is a picture of that day:) ...

Gingerbread! 12/20/2020

We had a great time last week making family memories while baking gingerbread.  We are really grateful for this time together and our new house is feeling more like home each day.  Moving back to the U.S. this year has been quite a change, but we are enjoying our time with all four of us under one roof again.  As I reflect on the gingerbread process, I wanted to share a few thoughts and some tips on what may be neede...

Different location. Different roles. Same ministry. Same goal. 9/9/2020

There are so many times over the past few months that we wanted to post a blog, but we have not been sure what to say.  In reality, we would be in Eswatini right now serving, but borders are still closed.  We have continued to work from home and stay very involved in our regular duties.  These past few months we have truly felt God’s peace and have once again been amazed at His provision and timing.  While we were...

Stateside Update 6/14/2020

Thank you for all that prayed for our safe arrival in the states.  The repatriation flight of 23 hours from Eswatini to Dulles, Virginia was by far the longest and most stressful travel we have had yet, but we are so thankful for the opportunity to come stateside.  Our last flight to Birmingham was cancelled, but thankful Landon and Lane were able to come to Atlanta to pick us up with just a few hours’ notice!  We ha...

Moments of Expectation 4/7/2020

When God called us to Eswatini as full time missionaries, he did not tell us 6 years into the ministry, we would be evacuated due to an extremely dangerous virus.  He did not tell us we would be separated from our family and would have to rely solely on Him for a way back home since borders are closed all around us.  It is not a great feeling to know you cannot get out of a country if you want to. It makes us thin...
