I Hate Toilet Paper

If you’re confused by the title of this blog, don’t worry, I made it for you to be confused and then to click and actually read the blog. However, the title isn’t clickbait. It’s very true. I was completely clueless coming into Cambodia about the situation regarding toilet paper, and after coming here I quickly found out that toilet paper is not really used here. Instead, there is a little water sprayer beside the toilet that’s pretty similar to what you would attach to a garden hose and use that instead. Once you get used to it and learn how to aim it is so much better than toilet paper. It doesn’t even stand a chance. I didn’t realize even realize I liked it better than paper until I went to a restaurant that had toilet paper after I had been using a sprayer for a few days and I did not choose to use the toilet paper.

Another thing that is quite different here is that we don’t have air conditioning in our house, and while it isn’t scorching hot it is still quite warm and about as humid as it gets, so this has been a pretty big adjustment for our entire squad. The change that has been really great has been the prices for food. One of my new favorite spots that I just tried out this past weekend has a fried chicken sandwich for $1.50 on the weekends. The sandwich is so good and it’s not a small sandwich either. Most of the Cambodian food here ranges from $1.50-$3.00 per meal, and there is so much good food here. The coffee shops can get a little pricy here with some having coffee up to $4 (which is still cheap in the U.S., but I like to go to coffee shops with really big iced coffees that are only about $1-$1.50, and the same for the prices of boba.

Our time has been so good so far in Cambodia, and I can’t wait to write about the ministry for y’all and that will be coming soon. I thank all of y’all so much for reading just a little bit about a few of the new things I’m experiencing here and I thank y’all so very much for changing over to this new platform to read my blogs. It means so much and I’m so happy to be able to share some of the things going on here in Cambodia.
