The big news: I’m going back overseas to lead another trip with World Race to Thailand & Cambodia!
The big “why”: explained in great detail below!
It’s hard for me to write about the next step in the crazy journey God has been taking me on without going back to the beginning. It all starts when I look out at the beautiful scenery of this earth and the intricately designed human beings that fill it, and conclude that there must be a Creator. When I learned that this Creator is actually an interpersonal God who loves me and wants a relationship with me, my world turned upside down. I learned that He is the definition of all things good, but since the beginning humankind has tried to run our own show and create our own version of “good” (which isn't really that good). I will never be able to describe with words how truly GOOD life with God is. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made, to live how I was designed to and therefore experience life to its fullest. The God who began time will also be the one to end time, and the only people that will get to spend eternity with all good things are those who choose Him.
There is a section of the world called the 10/40 window, named after its latitude. This portion of the world is home to 2/3 of the world’s population, and it includes North Africa, the Middle East, Southern Asia, and the Pacific Rim. Unfortunately, most of the people that live in this portion of the world have never even heard of the one true God. They worship idols who don’t answer their prayers, heal them, or love them. As the Bible says, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” (Romans 10:14-15). As followers of Jesus we are called to GO and give these people an opportunity to spend eternity surrounded by all good things.
While this is a huge reason I have chosen to go, there is another reason lying below the surface. I didn’t know that God wanted to speak to me, shower His love on me, and use me in crazy ways until I went on the World Race. Leaving home and living in abandonment of the typical comforts of an American lifestyle is quite the recipe to meet God in deeper ways. It excites me so much to get to play a part in this experience for other people. The racers who deepen their relationships with the Lord in the way I’m talking about are the ones who will go home and shake their communities with this life-changing message of who God really is.
All that being said, God has asked me to embark on a new adventure this fall. Launching mid-September, I will be leading a group of approximately 10 world racers to do two months of ministry in Thailand and Cambodia. Leaving home again isn’t the easiest thing, but I know this is where God is leading me and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere other than the center of His will. I’m honestly really excited to dedicate another season to serving the Lord overseas and see all He does through the group I’ll be leading. Though it’s always subject to change, the ministry in both countries consists mainly of teaching English and building relationships to share Christ.
However, I wouldn’t be able to do it without the support of the people reading this! I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all the support I have received over the years– wether it be finances or prayer, each of my supporters has played a role in deepening my relationship with God and spreading the truth about who God is. Fundraising is NOT me asking for money to go on a vacation– it is an opportunity to partner together to introduce more people to their Creator across the world. If you are not able to go yourself, you can donate to someone who can! Thank you for considering partnership that will grow God’s kingdom.
With love,
Coryn Zurcher
“You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. Friends, this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. Live an exemplary life in your neighborhood so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they’ll be won over to God’s side and be there to join in the celebration when he arrives” (1 Peter 2:9-12 MSG).
